No Sew Tutu

My princess is turning 2, and of course she loves dresses, princesses, tulle and glitter. I tried my first attempt to make a tutu since our costumes for Halloween will include tutus ;-). I could not believe how simple it was, and how cheap! Tulle was on sale at Hobby Lobby for 77 cents a yard!
All you need is:
  • Tulle, about 3 yards, depending how fluffy you want it.
  • scissors
  • needle and thread
  • elastic

First, you have to measure the waist with the elastic and cut. Remember the elastic will be stretched so when you measure stretch it and feel how tight you want it to be. I sewed mine by hand.
Then you need something to stretch the elastic so you can work better with the tulle. I used two bottles of soda.

Then fold the tulle in half so you will have 4 layers. Cut strips of tulle, about 1 1/2 inch. They do not have to be all the same length. I personally think it looks kinda cool with different lengths of tulle.

Fold the strip of tulle in half and make a loop. Insert on the back of the elastic.

Insert the rest of the tulle into the loop.

Secure by pulling tight. The tighter it is, the fluffier the tutu will be.

Continue all around.

Done!

Ready to be worn by its Princess:
