Pillow Makeover Using Curtain Fabric

Since we got new couches in our family room, the pillows we used to have do not match the cottage-y decor we (well, I) want to archive. I had to get creative and used a curtain that I bought in the Goodwill (for less that 2 dollars I think) which is really good quality fabric for really cheap! This is a great trick, in the linen section at the Goodwill they have linens that maybe you would not use in your home but they can  be great fabric for projects, and this also for clothes! Remember my old shirt pillow slipcover for mt daughter's room?

The striped pillow had seen better days and it has stains...
The process is pretty much self explanatory, but since we have three little angels running around in our house and making messes, I wanted to make it easy to remove so I can toss it in the washer to keep it clean.
I laid the fabric on the floor and put the pillow on top for measurements. I made a fold in the middle, kind of looking like an "envelope," folding one about 3/4 of the way and the other one only 1/2 of the way, in this manner:

Then I cut and pinned so the fabric would not move while sewing:

I sewed both sides:

Turned it inside out:

This is what I looks like!! What I love the best is: perfect seams that I did not have to do since I used the seams from the curtain that were professionally done!
I inserted the pillow and then she looked really pretty.

Sharing at these wonderful parties:
